Hydroponics Growing Tips For Cannabis

There are some tips to remember when growing cannabis, using hydroponics. The first is that the growing medium that is used should not be a loose composite, a material such as rockwool. Using a loose medium can clog the aquarium filter and tubes; this can mean having to either work on them continuously or the possibility of loosing the aquarium pump.

The next tip is not to mix the hydroponics nutrient solution to strong during certain growth periods, such as when the plants are seedlings they can be burned or die from regular strength fertilizers. When mixing them the directions need to be cut in half for the amount of granules in the same amount of water as called for, like mixing ½ tablespoon of granules to a gallon of distilled water instead of using 1 tablespoon.

In a crop the size of an indoor hydroponics crop the male plants should be taken out of the grow room unless the object of the crop is to allow the females to seed. The males can be harvested early or taken to a different location to grow where they will not pollinate the females.

The water and nutrients should be changed every two weeks, but the new solution should not be added to the old. The old hydroponics nutrient solution should be thrown away or used on houseplants.

Hydroponics means that the plants are not planted in soil, for that reason since their only way of staying alive is to have the water and nutrient solutions can not be stopped days prior to harvest.
