Marijuana and Ethrel

The use of ethrel is listed in several growing books as a way to help to produce all females in the crop and at the same time speed up flowering. While the use of this sounds good, it is a dangerous product to use. There are many growers who will not use it because of the chemicals contained in the product.

The testing on this product has proved caustic to skin and deadly to animals, this is why many pot growers have a fear of using it on their plants. They fear rather than change the DNA makeup of the plants to be all females that it could kill them or at the least give the plants leaves chemical burns.

When using Ethrel the growers will need to protect themselves and should wear a mask and gloves while spraying the leaves of the plants. This product should be tried on seedlings or plants that the grower is not afraid to loose such as a crop or plant that is not doing well, incase it affects the plants adversely.

There are other products on the market that are said to have similar affects and may not be as dangerous as the use of Ethrel, however there are growers that have used this product with some success and usually on the indoor hydroponics crop.
