Florescent Lights And Hydroponics
Florescent lighting is not used by people growing pot plants because it is not a strong enough type of light to give the plants what they need while growing. They can be used as they are light, but the plants will not grow to maturity to give as big a yield at harvest.
During the time of growth the plants are seedlings using florescent lighting is often used because it is able to provide the plants the amount of lighting they need. Until they grow out of the seedling stage and need to be transplanted. The downside to using them during this time for the pot plants means that they often grow at a slower rate than the plants that have other types of lighting.
These types of lights cost less than other types of grow lighting and they can be bought in lengths up to 48 inches with bulbs that are 30 to 60 watts, with each fixture holding two bulbs.
Using the florescent bulbs the fixture must be hooked in such a way that it can be raised and lowered and should be kept at between three and ten inches from the tops of the plants. This will provide the plants with the amount of light that they will need, although they will not grow as quickly as the plants that are using grow lights and can result in the pot not being as strong, since they are using their energy to reach the light.
