What To Know Before Cloning

Prior to cloning any cannabis plants there are a few things that should be considered, the first is that it is a healthy marijuana plant the cuttings will be taken from. This is because a healthier plane is the more successful the clones will be in growing. It is also important to take several cuttings this way the healthiest of the cuttings can be chosen and the ones that do not look healthy and be thrown away.

Before cloning is done there is some steps, which should be taken to ready the marijuana plant that the cuttings will be taken from. The first is the nitrogen must be leached from the plants. This is done with water where the pH level has been adjusted and there should be no fertilizer used on the plant. This should be done for three days prior to taking any cuttings, because the nitrogen that is in the cannabis plant can retard the rooting process.

After the growing medium has been chosen it should be soaked with a pH balanced water and using distilled water is best for this process. The pH level the water should have will be between six and seven. Some mediums such as Rockwool will need to be soaked for approximately 24 hours and in this case the pH level should be somewhat lower approximately 4 ½ to 5.

Once the soil has been pre-soaked holes can be pierced in the top of the growing medium that will be about the same size as the stems cutting. This will ensure there will be no damage to the stem when piercing into the dirt.
