Hydroponic Light Times
For any crop of weed lighting is important and when the grower is using hydroponics, for the first week the light should stay on approximately 18 hours per day. The amount of light can be raised by grower, who is able to add an extra hour lights to the plants an hour at a time.
The grower can work the way up to 19 to 24 hours a day of light for their hydroponics garden and the longer the light stays on the faster the plants will grow. The downside to this is of course it will raise electric bill. But, that is usually not a concern as pot growers know when planting a crop indoors whether in soil or using hydroponics that light will be needed as many as 24 hours a day. This means they will know that their electric bill is going to rise during their growing season of indoor pot.
The light should be placed as close as possible without burning the plants and moved as needed in order to get up to the growth without hurting plants.
A good rule of thumb for hydroponics gardeners using a 250 watt light is to keep it 18 to 30 inches from the plants. If using a 400 watt light it should be kept 3 to 4 feet above the plants in order to keep from burning them. Using a 600 watt light the distance is 4 to 5 feet and it is 5 to 6 feet when using a 1,000 watt light. |
