What Type Of Lighting Is Used
Growing marijuana indoors means there will be a need for lighting, because there will not be natural sunlight reaching the plants. Even if there is some sunlight reaching the plants it will not be enough light for the plants to grow properly.
In order to grow cannabis properly the right amount of light will be needed and regular household lighting will work for this purpose. Instead what is needed is a grow lamp with a 400 or 600 watt bulb.
Fluorescent lighting can also be used, this is a cheap and effective way to light a complete in area and disburse light over the plants. The rule with this type of lighting is that it must be kept within 3 inches from the tops of the plants in order for them to receive enough light. The process of using fluorescent lights means they must be hung in a way that they can be raised as the plants grow in order to keep them just above the tops of the plants.
Using metal halide lights will put out the most amount of light and they also will produce heat, when using these lights to keep the temperature down a fan will be needed. This type of lighting puts out a blue light and will be best served by using it during the vegetative growth of the plants. These can be found from 40 to 1000 watts and plant will provide enough light to grow up to four plants. This type of light can be used during flowering with no bad effects.
High pressure sodium lighting can also be used during vegetative growth and will also need ventilation such as a fan. This type of lighting produces red and orange lighting and is best used during the flowering stage of growth.
