Making Hashish

Hashish is made from the trichomes on the surface of the cannabis plant, knocking these trichomes off is the beginning of the hashish process. The gland heads on the plants contain a concentrated amount of THC and is more potent than other parts of the plant.

The first step in the process of making hash by the home grower is to use a flat screen with a frame such as a silk screen. By rubbing the cannabis trim across the screen so that the glands and other contaminants drop through the screen and are collected on a surface where they can easily be collected like glass.

The product that is collected is then cooked and this must be done on an electric stove or hot plate, never on a gas or propane stove as there is an alcohol content added. This is boiled for approximately three hours and then strained, and is repeated. Then for a third boil there is no alcohol added, instead water is added to the screened product.

The final steps are to add turpentine and then after straining to bake the mixture that has become a mush type of substance. This mush is baked until it dries out and then it can be smoked.

Smoking hashish is done using a pipe, water pipe or a hookah and this is the potent leftover from the cannabis plant that normally will be passed by with most weed growers.
