Can There Be To Many Male Plants

The answer can there be to many male marijuana plants in a crop indoors or even outdoors is yes, the male plant is usually has a very thick stalk, is tall and grows few leaves. It has the ability to pollinate every female plant in the crop causing the females to produce seeds and this will lower the amount of THC in the cannabis.

The male plant is usually harvested early, before it has a chance to pollinate the female plants in the crop and when it is an indoor crop there should only be females planted. This will provide a better crop and usually the females grown indoors have a higher content of resin in them.

The male plant begins to show its gender approximately 3 weeks before the female plant and will have at the tip of the branches where a female will begin to bud, small bud like balls. The balls will not have the small white hairs that are characteristic with female marijuana plants.

These male plants are usually only kept if they will be used for breeding otherwise they will be harvested early and when in a crop they are taken out by cutting the stem at the very bottom. This is done while not moving the plant so that it is unable to shed any of the pollen that is contained in the little balls at the tips of the branches.
