The Number Of Plants Per Light
The number of approximate plants per light that can be supplied the amount of light they need is not an exact number, but will give the hydroponics weed grower an estimated number when setting up the lighting for the garden.
This is estimated because of the fact that different wattages can be used in growing; a 250 watt fixture will provide the light sufficiently for 6 plants that are contained in a 2 ½ by 2 ½ foot growing area.
In a 4 by 4 foot growing area a 400 watt light fixture will be enough for 12 plants or less and a 600 watt fixture in a 5 by 5 foot growing area will cover 18 plants or less. The 1,000 watt fixture used in a 6 ½ by 6 ½ foot growing area is enough to supply sufficient light for up to 30 plants.
Along with the amount of wattage in providing sufficient lighting for the plants will be the distance the light is from the plants, a 250 watt light system will need to be stated approximately 18 to 30 inches above the plants. With 400 watts the distance will need to be further and should be approximately 3 or 4 feet above the plants, 600 watts would need to be placed to start at 4 to 5 feet above the plants. The 1,000 watt lighting system will need to be placed at 5 to 6 feet above the plants to start and changed as needed.
