What Is A Skuff Tumbler

A skuff tumbler is used in making hashish from the trichomes on the pot plant, this is a screen in a frame and is a motorized setup to separate the cannabis trim. What goes through the screen will be processed in a few steps into the hash and this is a product that most cannabis growers don’t bother with and yet it has the highest concentration of THC in the plants. This is because the trichomes are the plants glands and on appearance they have a milky substance that is a high content of THC. When the substance is pushed through the screen depending on how pure it is and free of contaminants it can be pressed together with the fingers.

This skuff can be made in several ways; it can be made using a small motor that helps push the trim through the screen. The construction of a skuff tumbler is done often by using circular pieces of plywood for building a cage, the screen is in the middle and this is placed on a shaft from the motor. This motor should reach speeds of 10 to 15 RPMS and can be found in hobby stores, cooking supply stores and some hardware stores.

There are also some growers that make their skuff tumbler using a motor such as a rotisserre motor and a 5 gallon bucket. The bucket sides are cut out leaving strips approximately one to two inches wide for the screening to be hooked on to it.
