Weeding Out The Male Pot Plants In Hydroponics Gardens
Growing a crop of pot using the method of hydroponics means there can only be a certain amount of plants grown because this is an indoor crop. Most indoor crops limit the plants to females. This means the males will need to be taken out of the growing room early, either when they are first identified as males or harvested early prior to pollination.
There are reasons why the male plants are taken away from the hydroponics growing area early. One of these reasons is because if the male is allowed to pollinate the females they will produce seeds and indoor growers will not have the harvest of buds they could have without the male plants present in the growing room.
The hydroponics crop that is only female plants when harvested will be sensamilla, which is what pot growers want from the crop grown in the house and cared for. These crops also have a higher amount of THC and stronger resin for the growers that collect the resin.
Many growers feel the only reason to allow a male plant to pollinate the females is to collect the seeds for their future crops. Other growers do not concern themselves with seeds; instead they use the method of cloning and keep a mother plant for taking their cuttings. This is a personal preference on the grower’s part whether they use seeds or clones.
